Just So You Know

Before each product reaches your cherished pets, it goes through the rigorous quality control of our two finest critics—Rimbaud and Pomum. These discerning felines ensure that every item meets the highest standards of comfort and style, giving your pets the same experience of luxury that we intend for them.

About the cats, Rimbaud and Pomum

Rimbaud the cat was born in September 2018, and he is a blue bicolor Ragdoll cat registered with TICA.
When I went to pick him up from the cattery in March 2019, the breeder told me he was a shy and quiet little cutie. Then, she placed him in my arms, and Rimbaud immediately grabbed my collar, causing a wave of exclamations. His instant affection for me was truly an honor.

Rimbaud is an incredibly intelligent cat with a powerful sense of perception. He always stays by my side, offering gentle comfort whenever I need it.
Rimbaud is acutely aware of my every movement, and at times, goes so far as to uninstall ChatGPT just to keep all my attention to himself.
Now, he is a large and lovable little prince, with a noble and elegant face and a silky, luscious coat. The curve of his nose and the shape of his eyes are uncannily similar to mine, and our bond is as deep as the sea—indescribable and wonderful.

Pomum, on the other hand, is a ginger and white short-haired cat who was once a stray. I brought him home on November 3, 2020, when he was just over two months old and severely weakened by cat flu (feline herpesvirus).
He tried so hard to befriend every passerby in hopes of finding himself a home. At the time, I hadn’t intended to adopt a second cat, as Rimbaud’s proud nature made it hard to imagine him accepting a little brother.
But as I stood on a leaf-covered street, watching schoolchildren throw leaves and sand at this small kitten, I was reminded that the harsh winter of Beijing was only days away.

In December 2017, Beijing implemented a policy of evicting “low-end populations,” forcing countless migrant workers out of the city and leaving countless stray animals to suffer in the cold. Beijing’s winters are too bitter for me to let this kitten face such a cruel fate.

After feeding him some wet food, I took him to the vet for a checkup. On the form, I casually filled in the name “Orange,” and later I changed it to “Pomegranate.”

“Pomegranate” spent over a month in quarantine at home, and only then did his cat flu symptoms finally disappear. To this day, he loves listening to the sound of water flowing through pipes, probably because he was born near a sewer.

When I was translating his name, I found that the root of “Pomegranate” is the same as “Pomodoro” (Italian for tomato), both derived from the Latin word “pomum,” meaning “fruit.” And I thought, that must be his name—the plump fruit, a symbol of happiness and all things magical.

Pomum isn’t as smart as Rimbaud, but he is incredibly confident, optimistic, and carefree. When he plays with people, he never retracts his claws, calmly following his own street rules. Now, he’s a round, shiny-coated, and extremely talkative cutie. He is also a joyful companion to Rimbaud.
